Been out and about…come check out Facebook

It’s been a while since I have been able to post here. I have been out and about, busy as ever, and haven’t had the time to keep this blog updated.

However I have been updating Facebook fairly regularly! If you haven’t had the chance to come over and check it out, please do! ‘Follow’, ‘Like’, ‘Fan’ (or whatever they are calling it now) my page and keep up to date with the latest and greatest. I promise I’ll get back to blogging soon, but for now I’ll be updating FB and planning on a bit of a site redesign here.

So come on over and check it out!

Product Spotlight – Session Albums | JClegg Photography

For the first product spotlight I wanted to show one of the most popular items that clients love – the session album. It has become so popular that it is now a part of every collection. Each album is handmade to order which is why they take a little longer to order than prints or canvases, but they are definitely worth the wait! You get to choose the material and the color of the cover and also whether the pages are black or white.

The 5×5 album is included in the Lake Sammamish Collection with 20 of your favorite images. Each image is outlined with one of four choices of creative borders.

The 10×10 albums are part of the Lake Washington (20 pages) and Puget Sound (30 pages) collections. Each album is custom designed and a piece of art you’ll be excited to show your friends and family.

Here are a few shots of some client albums from some previous sessions. At your session you will be able to view a sample of each album so you can feel the quality and thickness of these beautiful albums. Enjoy!

Great day at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival | JClegg Photography

I have a couple of other sessions to post, but instead I decided to get some of these images up from the great day I had at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. If you can get up there on a weekday when the weather is nice, you will definitely find yourself in an experience like no other. We have tried to go for the last few years. One year we went we took the dogs. Bad idea…no pets allowed. Another year, traffic was a mess and the weather was very cold and rainy. I guess they were all trial runs for yesterday because it could not have been more perfect. Sixty-ish degrees, nice, mild, dry. No traffic, few people. I had a hard time choosing the shots to post, but here are a few from the day. I highly recommend a trip up there, there are many great farms to stop at along the way, the food is fantastic, and it is just a gorgeous part of our great state.

Where in the world have we gone?

Well we took a little hiatus from updating this blog. We have been swamped this past month or two and are excited to be back in 2010 with some great new offerings! One of the first new things this year we are offering is mini-sessions. This is a great way to get some updated photos of your kids, pets or family without the time and expense of a full session. The session fee for a mini-session is $100 and will last about 30 minutes to an hour. You will have your choice of 5-10 images and smaller collections to choose from. Updates to the Investment Page will have more details. *Mini-sessions cannot be used to replace newborn sessions.

We are also expanding our product line to include some custom jewelry, some fun frames, folios, chroma panels and some different types of books. Product shots to come!

Also stay tuned for a huge digital sale for all of our 2009 clients. Digital files are a great way to archive and reorder prints for family members or to share online with friends and family. Next post will detail this great sale if you were a past client!

The last addition for 2010 is for people that are interested in modeling for stock photography. Microstock photography is where photographs are licensed for royalty free use in advertising, publishing, graphic arts, bloggers and anyone else who may need imagery for their projects. With a signed model release, the images that are uploaded to our portfolio can be purchased to meet buyers specific needs. I am an exclusive artist with istockphoto.com and my images have been used in Rachael Ray Magazine, Seattle Magazine, Book Covers, Cable Radio/TV, and many blog and web sites around the world. If you would like to be a model for stock, you must sign an istockphoto model release and in return, the fee for your session will be waived and you will receive 20% off anything additional you would like to purchase. Now that is one great deal!

I look forward to an exciting 2010 with lots of fun funky products and some great images!

Happy Holidays | Giving is Awesome announcement

Here we are on Christmas Eve! I can’t believe how fast the year went by! Tonight I am announcing the winners of the 2009 Giving is Awesome Project. Thanks to everyone who took time to not only think of someone but to email in your nomination. It was truly amazing reading all the love and thoughtfulness in your letters. There were so many deserving families out there, it was hard to choose just one. In the end we chose the Brooks family. They were nominated by the Gurney family and I am very much looking forward to getting together with them to capture their family this season and sharing a few of their portraits with you in the near future.

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope next year brings great peace and happiness to everyone. Thanks again for a fantastic 2009 and a special thanks to the families that invited me into their lives this year to photograph your newborns, kids and pets!

Back home…

Well I didn’t quite get the thick lush forest like I was hoping. We spent too much time on the water looking at all the fun beaches along the way. We had a blast and would definitely hit the WA coast again. It’s absolutely beautiful!

We have been having an extreme heat wave the past several days. We were on the coast when it started. The rain forest was 85 degrees, and then within 10 miles of heading to the coast the temperature plummeted 22 degrees. You can just see the difference in the pictures.

This first image is from Rialto Beach. The entire beach is tumbled rock. You can sit down in it or put your knees on it, and it is so smooth. The sound the rocks make when the waves are washing them up on the shore was so relaxing.

Here we are not 10 miles from where it was hot and sunny. Beautiful area, with lots of great camping and cabins.

kalaloch

Lake Quinault. This is where we ended up staying. Gorgeous lake and tons to do. The Quinault Rain Forest is here and there are many miles of trails to be hiked. We didn’t happen to hike that many of them, but we saw a little.

Here we are on the Bainbridge Island Ferry back to Seattle. I love how quiet and peaceful the island is next to the big tall busy city in the background. The clouds coming in were amazing!

And back to Seattle at last. Great trip…cannot wait to go back again and get those shots I wanted. :)

The lake, the forest and the coast

Today is our fifth anniversary! This weekend we are heading out to Lake Quinault to hang out on the lake which is located in the Quinault Rain Forest. We are also going to try to make it to Kalaloch to play on the beach. Neither one of us has spent much time in this part of the park, so we are really looking forward to it!

I dug out this old picture that I took with a point and shoot camera on a hike near our house. I love this picture because it reminds me of the rain forest we are headed to and how beautiful it is here, even though we live fairly close to a major city.

My husband, who is 6′4″ looks itty bitty in this picture next to all the huge trees! It will be fun posting pics from our trip to the rain forest and the coast when we get back!

Beautiful day at the dog park

Had some fun with Photoshop this week playing around with an image I took at the dog park. We love this park, and try to go weekly. The dogs love it too…I can tell from how we don’t hear a peep out of them the rest of the day after we go. As they say…a tired lab is a good lab. :)

The Market

Went with some friends and family today to Pike Place Market in Seattle. We had a great trip, although it was pretty crowded. But considering it was a weekend, I guess that was to be expected. So many beautiful colors and things to see. Highly recommended if you ever go to visit. Here are a few shots from that trip.
